Water Challenge

How to make a DIY polar bear plant pot!

Reuse an old plastic bottle by creating this paw-some craft in five easy steps!

Top tip: Crafting is a fun way to create something special together as a family. Make sure an adult helps with any difficult steps, like using scissors.

What you’ll need:

  • Large water bottle
  • Black marker
  • Scissors
  • White acrylic paint and paint-brush
  • Small potted plant, or soil and seeds

STEP 1

OUTLINE

Mark out your polar bear’s head and ears on the bottle. Make sure it will be deep enough to place your plant inside.

STEP 2

CUT

Cut around your polar bear, getting an adult to help you—the plastic can be tough.

STEP 3

PAINT

Paint the outside of the bottle with white acrylic paint. Leave to dry. You may need to add another coat or two.

STEP 4

DECORATE

When it’s dry, use the markers to add detail to the ears, eyes, mouth, nose, and whiskers.

STEP 5

PLANT

Place a small potted plant inside the polar bear, or add some potting soil and plant a few seeds. Check out the seed packet for instructions.
