Water is precious. That is why we consider the principles of sustainability when we source, produce and deliver purified water. When we take the time to make choices that include environmental and social aspects, we’re able to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
Looking for ways to save water
We’re always looking for new and innovative technologies and ideas that can help us make the best use of water throughout our processes. For the past 3 years, we have been introducing new projects in our bottling plants to re-use water we previously discharged. This significantly reduces the need to use additional water sources, saving over 5 million gallons each year.
Water stewardship
Growing populations and economies, evolving lifestyles and global climate change are putting increasing pressure on our water resources. AWS enables water users to work together to identify and achieve common goals for sustainable water management and shared water security.
The AWS certification is an international certification that sets rigorous criteria for managing water in ways that are environmentally, socially and economically beneficial.
In 2019, Nestlé Waters Lebanon has become the 1st company in Lebanon and the Middle East to have its 2 factories (in Ain Zhalta and Falougha) certified by the Alliance for Water Stewardship. We are committed to being socially equitable, economically beneficial and environmentally sustainable as users of water for generations to come.

Packaging & Recycling
Over the past 6 years we’ve reduced the amount of plastic in our PET bottles by over 15%. What’s more - all of our bottles are 100% recyclable. Once recovered and sent to a recycler, our bottles are cleaned, dried and melted into pellets (called nurdles) and can be used for all sorts of new, reusable things.
Every drop counts
We’re committed to using water carefully. It takes more water to produce a bottle of water than it actually contains. By improving our production processes, we make Nestlé Pure Life one of the most environmentally efficient bottled beverages anywhere.
Investing in the future
We are on a journey to ensure recyclable materials are collected and recycled. The PET bottle is a valuable resource that can be reused over and over, that's why we have the collaboration with Arc en Ciel, Development Inc. and Spinneys in the insertion of plastic collecting machines in exchange for points redemption and free water bottles.
